all is a gentle spring is an Australian womenswear label, founded in 2018. The label warps, condenses and clarifies the vernacular of costume history; borrowing methods and materials from the theatre workshop and transposing them into the world of ready-to-wear. The phrase ‘all is a gentle spring’ is a way of saying, hope all’s serene wherever you are. Uncompromisingly Australian Made, the label collaborates with researchers, archivists, and seamstresses to keep centuries-old hand sewing techniques and couture finishes alive in Australia. Practicality and ambition are layered together, and in the gap between the two, fantasy peeks through.
